THE ESTATE IN BENEVENTO: ROCCA DEI LEONI

UVolcanic soil, rich in phosphorus and potassium.
Diverse vegetation: fir-trees, chestnut-trees, cherry-trees, walnut-trees.
And, in the undergrowth, brooms, camomile, holly.
Excellent hillside exposures, considerable sloped, and very old rootstock.

Asperity and sweetness are the main qualities of the terroir of Benevento. The wines produced here come from the clones of Aglianico and Falanghina, and are characterized by nice acidity and sweet fruit, with aromatic notes and intense aromas.

The Rocca dei Leoni Estate , covers approximately 30 hectares, stands in the middle of the area called Sannio, amidst the Caudina, Telesina, and Tammaro Valley.

This is a land of grape-vines and olive-groves, that perfectly reflect the ancient viticultural arts. In fact, the old wine culture, which originated in this area of the Anatolian-Mesopotamic region, spread rapidly from this area throughout the rest of Campania.

Here on the inland slopes of Mount Taburno, Vergil and Horace, Fronteio and Maecenas stopped centuries ago, attracted by the exceptional beauty of this landscape; the ancient Romans settled here and the hermits took shelter, from which came long-standing religious communities.

Today, in the land of Sannio, historical tradition meets the innovation, reflecting the Villa Matilde philosophy.

Rocca dei Leoni is the Estate in which we produce the most modern and immediate wines.

All the Rocca dei Leoni vineyards are registered as D.O.C. Taburno and Sannio.
